Tara Hoskin  Tara Hoskin, the careers advisor at The Bridge School, Sedgemoor has been awarded the title of "Careers Champion" by the Careers and Enterprise Company. Tara has achieved this award  for her dedication and success  in inspiring our young people to be successful post 16.  The Bridge School are also the first PRU in the South West to achieve 100% compliance of the Gatsby Benchmarks for careers advice and guidance.

The Careers, Education, Information and Guidance (CEIAG) programme supports your child’s progression into the world of further education and/or work. We want all young people in our school to:

· To be aware of the full range of opportunities available to them

· To learn from employers about work, the skills that are valuable and to have first-hand experience of the workplace

· Receive advice and guidance that is delivered by a qualified Career advisor with the right skills and experience either through one to one or small group work

· Receive support tailored to their needs and learning styles

· Receive the information they need to understand the job and career opportunities available, and how their knowledge and skills can help them in considering suitable careers.

All staff at The Bridge School Sedgemoor are committed to meeting The Eight Gatsby Benchmarks of a Good Career Guidance, set out below:

We rely on parent’s involvement to guarantee your child reaches his, her full potential, and to support the wider school career programme. The Career advisor will work closely with you to ensure you are kept up to date with your child’s progression, career activities and engagement in the learning.

The career advisor would love to hear from parents from any industry who are able to support us with careers opportunities in the industry such as:

· Career visits to the workplace

· Work experience, one day a week for six weeks, reviewing weekly.

· Employee shadowing, for those not ready to access work experience, one day a week, with a focus on developing self-confidence, resilience and motivation

· Part time work – around school hours

· Come in and give a talk to our students
