The Bridge School

As Executive Headteacher, I would like to welcome you to The Bridge School, Sedgemoor, I hope that you find everything you need on our school website.

The Bridge School is a Pupil Referral Unit in the heart of Sedgemoor and supports children and young people who are not able to attend a mainstream school. There are many reasons why a young person is not able to attend a mainstream school setting, this may be because they have mental health or medical needs, they may need support with emotional and social development and/ or they may have been permanently excluded.

Everyone at The Bridge School works tirelessly to ensure that children and young people who attend our school have the right support at the right time to ensure the best possible outcomes. There is a clear focus on their next destination, whether that be returning to a mainstream school, college, apprenticeship or the world of work. It is important that we teach our young people coping skills, emotional resilience and a sense of worth, belonging and self-confidence.

The Bridge School offers a wide range of interventions and support to mainstream schools where they identify a child or young person who might be at risk of exclusion. Please see the Partnership section of our website for more information.

In 2019, The Bridge School, Sedgemoor joined a partnership with Polden Bower School. A special school in Bridgwater. As Executive Headteacher, I oversee both schools along with Avalon Special school in Street. Working together, we provide support and education to both children and young people who attend the schools, but also extensive support through outreach and partnership work to mainstream schools across Sedgemoor.

If you would like more information about the work at our school or have a question, please do contact us at or 01278 421148.
